  • What kind of projects do Förme Garden Rooms create?

An initial consultation usually allows us to scope out the location and make suggestions as to the type of features that may be desirable in your perfect garden room. These are the most popular uses in the UK today: • Home office • Gym • Games room • Home cinema • Music room / home studio • Treatment / Consulting Room • Artist Studio • Family Room • Sauna / Spa Room • Granny Annexe
  • Will a garden room add value to my home?
Here’s the very good news: According to ‘Housebuilder and Developer’, most garden rooms add around 5% to the value of a property. Robert Ellis of Nutbrook Property estimates that the value-added would be around 1.5x the cost of installing the building. So not a cost, so much as a great return on investment.
  • Are Förme Garden Rooms as durable as brick built structures?
Absolutely. We begin with a solid and durable concrete base, onto which a timber built frame is added – sometimes with steel supports, depending on the design. These panels are strong, thoroughly insulated and are pre-made off-site, ready for assembly. BBA approval ensures that stringent regulations for safety, durability and strength are adhered to.
  • Do I need planning permission for a Förme Garden Room?
Quite often your garden room is designed and built within ‘Permitted Development Rights’. We will happily discuss your options with you on our initial survey visit. You can find out more at: Where planning permission is required, or you wish to apply for a Certificate of Lawful Development and we can help make the application on your behalf.
  • What areas do you cover?

  • Will my Förme Garden Room have to be passed for building regulations?
We can advise on this when we meet you and undertake a site survey. The vast majority of our garden rooms and garden studios either meet or exceed all aspects of building regulation controls, but often don’t require a formal application to be submitted, avoiding inspection by Building Control officials. Wherever building regulations are involved, we ensure that all standards are met and the relevant certification is acquired.
